3:00 pm - Learn to Cover Tea Tins With Beautiful Papers

3:00 - 3:45 pm; Karen Van Hoy

We’ve all admired and perhaps even collected those pretty tea tins from Japan, covered in pretty chiogami papers.  With a few simple but precise tips, you can learn to duplicate this process.  You'll learn about different types of tins, why some papers work and some not so well,  and how to avoid pitfalls. You'll be able to leave with one, if not two beautiful tins. All materials provided. Since sharp blades are used, this class is limited to adults.

Karen Van Hoy - Studio Artist
Karen Van Hoy has been a studio textile artist since 1994, and uses paper as well as fabrics in her work. When she found that the single most item that appears in our landfills is fiber, she switched from buying new fabric (and paper) to using things that others put into landfills. Being a re-purposed artist means that 75% of materials used must be re-used. In this class you will learn to make beautiful tins for your beautiful tea with that same commitment to the earth.
