10:00 am - Introduction to Matcha and Tasting

We will discuss Matcha production and the various factors that affect the taste of Matcha. We will practice whisking and appreciating a traditional bowl of Matcha and taste 3 different kinds of Matcha. Participants will have a worksheet to take home with information about Matcha and how to order more at home. It is recommended that participants have something to eat before class to help prepare the stomach for tea.

    I have been studying Japanese Tea Ceremony for more than 12 years and interested in Matcha for longer than that. I have done many demonstrations at various locations around Portland including the Portland Japanese Garden and PSU.
