As matcha has become popular, many people seek the proper implements for making a bowl of delicious tea. And that bowl is of prime importance! Acquiring a well-designed matcha bowl is crucial for correct whisking and serving a good bowl of tea. This course will teach students what to look for in a good matcha bowl and show examples from the instructor's personal collection of matcha bowls.

  • Margie Yap has been teaching Chado, the Japanese Tea Ceremony for more than 30 years. She trained in Japan at the Urasenke Headquarters in Kyoto, acquiring teaching license in 1996 and has presented Chanoyu, the Tea Ceremony in both the U.S. and Japan.  She currently runs Issoan Tea and teaches 7 classes a week.
