10:30 - 11:15 British Tea Tent, Lisa Hand, Lynelle Tarter
Tea in Beatrix Potter’s World: Domestic Ritual, Storytelling, & Edwardian Life
Join us as we explore the real and fictional worlds of Beatrix Potter through the lens of tea. Drawing on her work and her Edwardian country life, the talk examines how tea appears as both a symbol of order and comfort, particularly for children. Blending storytelling, cultural history, and Beatrix’s much wider influence, the presentation brings alive historical tea traditions, the green and pleasant land she loved and why tea mattered in Potter’s world—and why it continues to resonate across generations.
Presented in period attire by Lisa Hand of Wind Horse Antiques, a 4th generation antique dealer & presenter of historical teas & events, and her lovely assistant, Lynelle Tarter, expert in numerous topics of the era.
