10:30 - 11:15 Outdoor Classroom - Treat Your Tea Right (Kai Druzdzel)
Those new to the world of loose-leaf tea are often overwhelmed by the wide variety of teas, teaware, methods, and opinions. In this back-to-basics class, I will review the major styles of tea, introduce different brewing vessels and their usage, and share simple guidelines for bringing out the best flavor from any tea leaves—consistently and with confidence. Most importantly, I will prepare three of my favorite teas using various techniques and offer samples of each.
10:30 am - Treat Your Tea Right (Kai Druzdzel)
Originally from Poland, I have been drinking tea all my life. About 15 years ago, I transitioned from tea bags to loose-leaf after discovering a delicious black tea—Tippy South Cloud from Portland’s Tao of Tea—which I still enjoy to this day. In addition to my personal interest in tea, I have served tea at festivals and community events. Over the past year, I have been hosting tea tasting workshops at public libraries and other venues along the southern Oregon coast. Sharing this passion with my community has been deeply rewarding and has given me a new perspective on my favorite beverage.
